[Free Recipes] Soups To Beat The Fall Colds

Hi Mia here,

Between Sasja, my mom, our athletes and team members, there have been a few colds going around. 

I have 3 recipes to share that always make me feel better, the first of which turned Sasja around in less than 12 hours!

Have them in your back pocket and pull them out when necessary, but remember the season is changing and it's going to challenge your immune system. Help it out! Up your fruit, veggie, leafy green and spice intake. Give yourself a fighting chance. 
Here you go!

4 cups low sodium veggie broth
1 can black beans or 2 Cups fresh black beans
2 cups fresh or frozen corn
1 large yam peeled and cubed
1-2 zucchini diced

Season with sea salt, smoked paprika, black pepper, dried or fresh cilantro and garlic (if you're sick then LOTS of garlic!) 

Fire Roasted Soup
1 can fire roasted diced tomatoes 
1 chile
1 large yam
1/2 cups lentils 

1 medium onion
4 cups low sodium veggie broth

Add cumin, garlic, salt and pepper and whatever seasonings you like. I throw in a little habañero sauce for some spice.

Sometimes I also add whole bunches of cilantro while it's cooking for flavor to be taken out later. You can try that also. 

SauteĢ onion in a little bit of grape seed oil until translucent, then add broth, tomatoes, lentils, chopped and peeled yams (I usually just eat the skin or pull it off after it's cooked. I'm a lazy cook. Lol), diced chile and all your seasoning. Get it nice and flavorful. You can add the cilantro here if you want. Bring to a boil then simmer for about 20 minutes or until yams and lentils are soft. 

Season to taste. Top off with cilantro and avocado. 

Healing Soup Blueprint
4 cups veggie broth

Big chunks of fresh ginger
6-8 cloves of garlic minced
Add whatever veggies you like and/or lentils
Season to your happy place. The goal here is to really extract the ginger and garlic to boost the immune system. Spices are good here too.

Simmer for about 45min
